Grab bar and handrail installation in Yakima for safer bathrooms and homes

Peak Pro Home Services installs grab bars and handrails across Yakima, anchored into wall studs by a licensed local contractor. We help seniors and families prevent falls in the bathroom and throughout the home. Free in-home safety assessment.

Chapter 01

Grab bars and handrails, installed to hold

Peak Pro Home Services installs grab bars and handrails across Yakima and Central Washington. As a licensed local contractor, we anchor every bar into the wall studs or solid blocking so it holds a person's full weight, which is the difference between a safety device and a false sense of security.

A grab bar screwed into drywall can pull out under load. Ours do not.

The bathroom is the highest-risk room

The CDC reports that hundreds of thousands of older adults are treated in emergency rooms every year for injuries from bathroom falls. Wet floors, tub walls, and low toilets make it the most dangerous room in the house.

Grab bars placed where hands naturally reach, at the shower entry, inside the shower or tub, and beside the toilet, give steady support exactly where falls happen.

Chapter 03

Handrails beyond the bathroom

Grab bars and handrails help all over the home, not just the bathroom. We install handrails along steps, entries, and hallways so there is always something solid to hold on the routes people walk every day.

The photo above shows a vertical bar set beside a door into a garage, a spot where a step and a threshold meet and a hand wants something to hold.

Rated load

300+ lb

Each bar is anchored so it holds a full 300 pounds or more.

A grab bar is only as strong as what it is anchored to

Drywall is a thin shell of gypsum and paper. It was never meant to carry a person's weight, and a screw driven into it has almost nothing to bite. Under a real pull, the bar and a piece of the wall can come away together. Suction-cup bars are no better: they can release at the exact moment someone leans on them.

So we find the structure first. We anchor into wall studs or solid blocking, the framing behind the tile and drywall, so each bar holds a full 300 pounds or more. Where a stud does not sit where a hand naturally reaches, solid blocking is the answer, not a shorter bar or a lighter anchor. That is the part you cannot see after the work is done, and it is the part that matters.

It is also why a licensed contractor does this work. Opening a wall, finding what is behind it, and fixing a bar to it is carpentry, not a quick hardware-store job.

Where the bars actually go

Placed where hands naturally reach, three spots do most of the work in a bathroom. The right layout depends on how you or your loved one moves, which is what the free assessment is for.

Shower or tub entry
The moment of stepping over a wall or curb, when one foot is off the floor and the other is on a wet one.
Inside the shower
Steady support while standing, turning, and reaching, on a floor that is wet and slick.
Beside the toilet
Something solid to push and pull on when sitting down and getting back up from a low seat.

Part of a whole-home safety plan

Grab bars work best as part of a plan, not a one-off. During a free in-home assessment, we look at how you or your loved one moves through the home and recommend where support actually belongs.

Grab bars often pair with comfort-height toilets and accessible fixtures, and with wheelchair ramps or stair lifts for a home that is safe end to end. See our full range of senior home services in Yakima.

How we work

We come to you for a free in-home assessment, mark the right locations with you, and install each bar into solid structure. Most installations are finished the same day.

Walk-In Shower and Grab Bars in Yakima

An older Yakima woman could no longer safely step over her tub wall. Peak Pro installed a walk-in shower with grab bars so she could bathe safely and independently again. See more on our walk-in showers page.

Grab bar questions, answered plainly

If you are caring for a loved one, these decisions carry weight. Here are the questions we hear most often.

It depends on how many bars you need and where they go. Rather than quote a flat rate, we give you a firm price at your free in-home assessment, where we see the space and confirm what will actually help.

A grab bar is only as strong as what it is anchored to. Suction-cup bars and bars screwed into drywall can pull loose under real weight, which is exactly when someone is counting on them. We anchor into wall studs or solid blocking so each bar holds a full 300 pounds or more.

The most important spots are the shower or tub entry, inside the shower, and beside the toilet, placed where your hands naturally reach. The right layout depends on how you move, which is what the free assessment is for.

Yes. We install handrails along steps, entries, and hallways so there is steady support on the routes you use every day, not just in the bathroom.

Coverage varies by plan, and many plans treat grab bars as a home modification rather than medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans and Washington assistance programs can help. We are happy to talk through what we have seen when you call.

Most grab bar and handrail installations are finished the same day. We give you a timeline when we confirm the plan.
