Vertical platform lifts in Yakima, for entries a ramp cannot reach
Peak Pro Home Services assesses, measures, and installs Harmar vertical platform lifts across Yakima. A platform lift carries a wheelchair or scooter straight up a porch or raised entry where a ramp will not fit. Free in-home assessment.
Chapter 01
When a ramp will not fit, a platform lift will
Some entries are just too high for a ramp. A safe ramp needs about a foot of length for every inch of rise, so a four-foot porch would need a ramp close to fifty feet long, which most yards do not have room for.
A vertical platform lift solves that. It carries a person in a wheelchair or on a scooter straight up the rise on a stable platform, in a footprint about the size of the platform itself. Peak Pro Home Services assesses, measures, and installs Harmar vertical platform lifts across Yakima and Central Washington.

Built for real entries
Vertical platform lifts work at porches, decks, split-level entries, and raised landings, indoors or out. The platform has safety sides and a gate, a non-slip surface, and simple controls, and it runs on a rechargeable battery so it keeps working in a power outage.
For someone who cannot manage steps and does not have room for a ramp, it is often the most practical way in and out of the home. The raised entry in the photo above is the kind of porch we are asked to look at, where the question is whether a ramp has the yard to reach it.
Chapter 03
We measure it ourselves
Because our own team assesses and measures for platform lifts, we can move quickly and keep the cost down, rather than waiting on an outside specialist.
We look at the rise, the landing, and the approach, recommend the right Harmar lift, and give you a firm price before any work begins.

The 1:12 rule, on a measurement sheet
Where the ramp runs out of yard
The sizing rule for a safe ramp is one foot of ramp for every inch of rise. That is a gentle slope, and it is what lets someone push a chair up it, or ride a scooter up it, without fighting the grade. The cost of the gentle slope is length.
A switchback with a landing folds some of that length back on itself, which helps on a wider side yard. But a tall porch still runs out of room, and a platform lift takes over where the yard stops.
| Rise of the entry | Straight ramp length |
|---|---|
| 12 in | 12 ft of ramp |
| 24 in | 24 ft of ramp |
| 36 in | 36 ft of ramp |
| 48 in | 48 ft of ramp |
Ramp first, lift when it has to be
A ramp is the simpler answer when the yard allows it, and we install those too. If a ramp is a better fit for your entry, see our wheelchair ramps, or the ramp rentals when the need is short term. The photo here is a switchback ramp with a landing, tucked between a house wall and a fence: it fits because the rise is modest and there is a side yard to fold it into.
The free assessment is where that call gets made honestly. We look at the rise, the landing, and the approach, and tell you which of the two makes sense for your door.
Price guidance
A vertical platform lift typically runs about $30,000 to $50,000, depending on the rise and the model.
It is a significant investment, essentially an outdoor elevator, and the right fit for a specific set of homes. You get a firm price at the free assessment, once we have measured your entry.
